XS Networks provides managed database solutions for a flat monthly fee. We manage MySQL, Microsoft MSSQL and PostgreSQL databases. The loss of data is unacceptable for the vast majority of internet based companies. To prevent the situation in which a restore procedure can only restore the last night’s backup, we take care of creating a redundant platform that brings downtime to a minimum and in case of a failure prevents loss of transactions.
We can also act as a database administrator (DBA) for your organization. In this role we install new databases, optimize database settings, configure clusters and replication and provide backups. Monitoring and reacting on events becomes the responsibility of XS Networks. In some cases a single database instance fits the bill, but usually more reliability and performance is demanded. Therefore we build and configurate a master-slave setup for systems with a high read/write ratio. For optimal reliability we can configure a master replica or a cluster solution. For additional reliability clusters with one or even several replicas are possible.
To achieve high availability XS Networks engineers build a failover solution. The first option consists of a passive replica that becomes active when a primary machine fails. A second solution is one where we build a multi master database which together operate as a cluster. In both cases a failure of part of the platform does not affect availability.
